Arsenal Take On Wolverhampton Wanderers in Key Premier League Fixture

Focus shifts for a fascinating top-flight contest as front-runners the Gunners host struggling Wolves to the Emirates Stadium.

Starting Lineups

Arsenal have made three changes from the team that suffered a 2-1 defeat at Villa Park in their previous outing. William Saliba, the Swedish striker and the Brazilian winger all start in the starting eleven. Martin Ødegaard and Mikel Merino are named on the bench, while the Italian defender is not involved. The centre-back returns after sitting out a run of games due to injury.

The visitors also have made three adjustments to their lineup following being soundly beaten 4-1 at Molineux by United on Monday evening. The experienced full-back, João Gomes and the South Korean forward are recalled. Hoever and Jhon Arias are on the bench, while Jean‐Ricner Bellegarde misses out altogether.

The Setup

Welcome! Because, look at this …

The table tells a clear picture. The hosts sit proudly at the top of the Premier League, while their opponents occupy the bottom of the division.

… however, even though this will be the 42nd time the Premier League leaders have faced the side at the foot of the division – with 30 victories from 41, with seven draws – which team is responsible for two of the four historical shocks? Indeed, Wolverhampton Wanderers, that’s who! So while Mikel Arteta will undoubtedly be expecting another victory, the Wolves boss must know that long shots sometimes find the target, and you never know. Kick-off is at 8pm GMT. It’s on!

(The other two last-over-first wins in the Premier League era are Oldham Athletic's 1-0 win over Manchester United in March 1993, and Tottenham Hotspur – yeah, this one sounds a bit weird - beating Liverpool in November 2008.)
