Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Send Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Festive Top Spot.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The project seeks to send support to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Chance for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to support Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a thing unto themselves.”

Powerful Theme of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“It occupies a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Featured Artists

The song was recorded after a major charity concert held in September. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the piece was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.

The notable list of artists appearing on Lullaby features a selection of acclaimed names from the scene. All took part in the benefit event, which managed to collect a substantial amount for relief efforts.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was crafted by a team of talented individuals. The single blends a combination of the heritage language with freshly written English words.

The organizers behind the project have stated that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These proceeds will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.

“There is no a specific target,” a representative said. “We will pursue as much as possible. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was noted for its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of buildings described as in ruins or severely impacted.

“In that context, a few million won't make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is above all raising awareness for this issue and showing there’s another side to the story.”

The song is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from later in the month.
