Ex- Physician Faces Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities report that a ex- physician has been charged with performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five charges comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
Authorities are urging individuals with information to contact the investigating team.
