Football Expert Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Premier League Forecasts

Arsenal's 10-game winning run was ended by Sunderland prior to the global break, but can the Premier League leaders recover against north London rivals Spurs this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this season, versus artificial intelligence, readers and a variety of guests.

For week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

Murs' new record, the new release, is available on the weekend.

Football and Parenting Life

Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not planning a professional return as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a charity game the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."

Murs and his spouse his partner have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.

"I won't force football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be coaching their weekend football side," he said.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a period too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our team for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from injury but their attack is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this game will be fairly tight, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole home losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

This suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

The singer's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their past two matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, the Hammers secured two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear strong again.

West Ham's only away victory this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's coach.

So, what on earth do I go with here - can the Hammers continuing their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to choose the Cherries, because I believe what occurred against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

The guest's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season began, but they have surprised a several people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their last four matches.

My son told me to get Bees striker Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.

Thiago will probably score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had much success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are always strong at home. Brentford will attempt to attack on the break but I think the home manager's team pose much more of a danger.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

Olly's view: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it actually turns out to be rather close. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six games.

Fulham have have plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.

As for the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.

The away side's display in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed anyone else rough up the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the close of last month.

However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good results because they evidently enjoy to prove me wrong.

Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the sole side they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely eager for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's choice: I know Sunderland are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at home this season. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

It is a tough one to predict. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but could they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
