Thick black smoke was observed billowing above an area adjacent to the central command of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet.

Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is uncertain and the US has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.

It said missile fragments landed in a residential area in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
