Jurgen Klopp says a return to lead Liverpool is plausible in theory.

The German coach, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that returning someday remains an option. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful near-decade reign that included Champions League success and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, currently occupies positions as head of global soccer within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won England's top flight in the previous campaign, yet numerous supporters who adore the manager would welcome the possibility that he may eventually return. During an extensive chat, he shared with the podcast host: “I said I refuse to lead another team in England. Therefore if then it’s Liverpool...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“I’m 58, which suggests the choice could be mine later on, it's uncertain. Do I have to make the decision today? In that case, I'd stay away. But thank God, it's not necessary. I can just see what lies ahead.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Questioned regarding what circumstances would need to occur to tempt his return to the touchline, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “I don’t even know exactly, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “No longing for management; I avoid standing under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; No need for media briefings four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats each week.

“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, however, dining out alongside the squad enjoying conversation, is pleasant. With many victories meaning regularly positive atmosphere in the building. Remaining with me is Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear to illustrate.”

Praise for His Successor

He commended for his successor, praising him for the adjustments that took the title last campaign. The team has suffered four in a row in all competitions post heavy investment, but he rubbished the notion of it representing the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words if spoken against. A remarkable prospect. The French striker, excellent performer. This is a well-built well-judged squad. You don’t have to worry over the club, they'll bounce back.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

The manager expressed deep feeling about the death of the Portuguese star, a player he signed in 2020, and the effect on Liverpool. The Portugal international died tragically in a car crash with his brother in July.

“How do you replace such an individual? It’s not about the player himself, it’s the guy he was. I struggle to conceive the squad absent his presence. Putting it into words is tough regarding this. A devastating blow for all the boys also. No one within the club would cite it as an excuse but it is the situation. Entering the changing area where he was omnipresent. Handling this individually is not easy. Overwhelming.”
