Recent Particulars Surface Regarding the Finding of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Remains
New information has come to light concerning the untimely deaths of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their residence home on Sunday.
The Initial Report
According to a report citing a confidential source, a practitioner arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the home. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
After gaining access to the residence, Romy came upon her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Her roommate who had accompanied her contacted 911. Following this, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Developments
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently in custody and denied bail.
Disputed Reports
The person close to the family also disputed several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the property, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.
Additionally refuted widely reported suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction applies to accounts of alleged "unstable" conduct by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. While the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they maintained that reports of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.
Investigation Timeline
According to law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts suggested the state of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
