Shock as Beloved South African DJ Killed in the City of Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country battling entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the city centre on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old entertainer was confronted by three suspects, one of whom shot at him before fleeing on foot.
The purpose of the shooting has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended have been made, according to authorities.
Details of the Attack
Authorities said that Stock was attacked as he was exiting a location close to the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the property supervising the implementation of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by unidentified individuals, it was reported.
"It is alleged the victim was confronted by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before fleeing the scene on foot," a police statement confirmed.
CCTV footage showed a man with dreadlocks and wearing what looked like a security uniform opening fire on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ tried to run away after he was wounded but succumbed to his injuries a short distance away.
Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the incident.
Important clues, like spent shells, were found at the crime scene.
Appeal for Witnesses
Officials are asking anyone who saw the event who may have witnessed the attack to assist with the investigation.
"Our information indicates they traveled on foot after the shooting, and officers have been attempting to locate them to establish their whereabouts," added an official.

His sister, Nicole Stock, stated the relatives are devastated to process his death.
"Words fail me. I cannot express the pain," she stated.
"We know he was a representative for countless citizens. He spoke out bravely about topics not many people were prepared to speak about. This is a profound tragedy."
She requested the community to avoid sharing disturbing footage from the incident, saying this was an incredibly difficult time, particularly for Stock's young family.

Stock was the presenter of Ngicel' iVisa, a series that premiered on a popular local TV network.
Apart from his media career, Stock was active in various commercial activities, including protective services, offering elite guarding services and managing safety for high-profile events across South Africa.
