The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Chose the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Track

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated series by Critical Role, revealed a new opening credits. It showcases our favorite group of outcasts, outcasts, and criminals kicking ass and taking names, while also hinting at multiple agonizing personal histories for characters including the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, Fjord.

Overall, the intro looks amazing. But I couldn't help feeling that something was lost in the song choice.

This sequence employs "Welcome to the Continent", a truly stellar composition composed by artist Colm McGuinness. It's a track from the soundtrack album of that title, the second one put out by the production company's record label Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a great sentimental option, and I suspect that fans of the sequel series will appreciate its presence.

Personally, The series' opening doesn't quite capture the excitement and energy that accompanied the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by musician Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic for me when it was first revealed in that year, and it only got better when co-founder the performer wrote words to the tune for the series' animated intro in 2018.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, another performer, a co-star, as well as the writer, the song was catchy and fun. Back then, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series at that point, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my phone. It's a song that excites you before you start an installment of adventurous fun.

The show's opening with "the new song" doesn't strike the same chords for me. It's a grand composition, but from what I know of this party, I feel that its tone is a little off.

Of course, the creators has already said that the animated show will have a few changes and variations from the actual-play campaign. A tonal change for its intro appears as one of them.

This animated adventure will be available to watch on the streaming service from November 19. If you can't wait until then, or wish to prepare to learn about the personas of the second series, the original episodes are available on Spotify and the video site.
