The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Frustration Regarding Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms.
They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
